The weeks that were...

After a long spell of heat,we are approaching the end of the summer and i hope that the worst part is over.Even though it would sound nice to blame my long haitus on the weather,i dont see you believing me so what the heck i will feign sickness or plain laziness.
I feel like i have alot to share with you,so much that my brain just can't accomodate anymore,so as always i will use you as an outlet.
I will start off with an issue that struck close to my heart-the hunger crisis in Niger.Amidst the death of many helpless and starving infants, and the slow response of the international community,i was baffled when the Niger's head of state himself claimed that the whole episode was a western conspiracy to turnish the "good"reputition of his country. Now we all know that Niger is the second poorest contry in the world(okay i know some of you were lost on the stats but fine, just roll with me).And unless all the images of the starving children were fabrications or special effects by CNN and BBC,its my humble demand therefore that he and others like Mugabe of Zimbabwe president check themselves into mental asylums guarded by wild dogs.
Still on the issue of the plight of children,i just watched a movie made by some American students, about the conflict in Northern Uganda. Its horrific effects on the children in parts like Gulu was just an awakening experience for me.I remember growing up in Kampala, and how detached to the conflict in the north we all were.Infact in our complict silence and inaction, thousands of children were abducted.I would encourage you all to watch it or go to www.invisiblechildren.com.Its the sad reality of how a whole generation is perishing under our noses.Infact i am interviewing some of the people involved for my show.
On my list of movies that i would totally discourage you from watching in an indie starring an oscar nominee Chloe Savigny-Brown Bunny-,oh such a redundant piece of crap. The plot is centered on this white dude, who happens to be the writer, director and boyfriend of Chloe Savigny. All he does is look creepy the whole time and in the end gets his ding dong sucked by his girlfriend. And thats the end.I could swear that in my first class of scriptwriting,i did better than him.Now you will ask yourself why i am irked by this particular movie, its simply because i wasted a couple of bucks renting it in the hopes of supporting and indie, which i thought was the reason why an oscar nominee was in the movie in the first place(well that and the fact that she has not appeared in any mainstream movie in ages).
Infact while i am still venting, why don't i mention that the president of my alma mata here in DC,has been suspended for misusing school funds. Here i am struggling to pay off my beaucoup student loans and the man is buying 100 dollar per bottle wines for his son's engagement party.Where is the justice man.
